Why the method matters
Ibotenic acid converts to muscimol under heat and acid, and how completely that happened decides what a consumer actually takes. Reporting one number for both understates the difference between a well-processed batch and a poorly processed one.
Gummy and capsule products vary unit to unit more than most makers expect. The homogeneity option assays several units from the same lot and reports the spread, which is the figure a retailer should ask for.

Is Amanita muscaria legal to send?

Why report ibotenic acid separately?
Because they are different compounds with different effects, and the conversion is rarely complete. A combined figure hides how well the material was processed.

What is the limit of quantitation?
