Nanoemulsion testing
A nanoemulsion claim is a size claim, and size is measurable. Dynamic light scattering reports the mean droplet diameter and the spread around it, which together predict whether the emulsion holds or creams.

Sample requirements and shipping
| Item | Requirement |
|---|---|
| Emulsion concentrate | Requirement20 mL sealed |
| Finished beverage or tincture | Requirement6 sealed units |
| Powder, dry emulsion | Requirement10 g plus the stated reconstitution |
| Condition | RequirementRoom temperature, upright, unopened. State the intended dilution so we can measure at use concentration. |
Order first, then ship. A prepaid label is emailed when payment lands, and the carrier scan on that label opens your chain of custody. We accept no walk-in drop-off, and we hold no DEA registration, so no Schedule I to V material.
Why the method matters
Mean size alone can flatter a product. A low Z-average with a high polydispersity index means a population of large droplets is hiding behind a lot of small ones, and that is the emulsion that separates on a shelf.
Measuring after dilution matters, because most emulsions are dosed into water and some fall apart when they get there. Size at concentrate and size at use concentration are different tests and we report both.
What comes back
A public certificate
Every result, the method, the instrument ID, the LOD and LOQ and the signature, verifiable by accession number with no login.
The filmed route
Your package opened on camera, a photograph of each container, and the footage retained for three years. Released to you on request.
A retained sample
Held 90 days, so any result can be rechecked by us or by an accredited laboratory of your choosing.
Questions about nanoemulsion testing
What size counts as a nanoemulsion?
Conventionally below 100 nm, with many products claiming 20 to 50 nm. We report the measured Z-average and the polydispersity index rather than a verdict, and you compare against your claim.
What does polydispersity tell me?
How uniform the droplets are. Below 0.2 is a tight, generally stable population; above 0.4 means a broad mix that is likely to separate.
Is zeta potential worth measuring?
It predicts whether droplets will repel each other and stay dispersed. Magnitudes above about 30 mV, either sign, generally indicate good electrostatic stability.
Can you test the finished beverage instead of the concentrate?
Yes, and ideally both. The concentrate tells you what you made; the finished product tells you what survived dosing and pasteurisation.
