Terpene profiling

Forty-two terpenes by headspace GC-MS, each quantified against a reference standard rather than estimated by area percent. The certificate lists every analyte with its own number, the total, and the three that dominate the profile.

Sample requirements and shipping

ItemRequirement
FlowerRequirement3 g sealed, as fresh as possible
Concentrate or rosinRequirement1 g in a sealed container
Distillate or vape cartRequirement1 cart or 1 g
ConditionRequirementShip cool where you can. Terpenes are volatile; a sample left warm in transit reads low.

Confirm the scope and quote before shipping. Shipping instructions follow the agreed testing order. We accept no walk-in drop-off, and we hold no DEA registration, so no Schedule I to V material.

Why the method matters

Area percent is not quantitation. Each terpene responds differently on a detector, so a profile built from relative areas overstates some analytes and understates others. Every number we report is against a reference standard for that compound.

Headspace sampling avoids the solvent peak that buries the light monoterpenes in a direct injection, which is why pinene and myrcene figures from a headspace method are usually higher and more honest.

What comes back

A public certificate

Every result, the method, the instrument ID, the LOD and LOQ and the signature, verifiable by accession number with no login.

The filmed route

Your package opened on camera, a photograph of each container, and the footage retained for three years. Released to you on request.

A retained sample

Held 90 days, so any result can be rechecked by us or by an accredited laboratory of your choosing.

Questions about terpene profiling

Why is my terpene total lower than another laboratory reported?

Most often because the other result was area percent rather than quantitation, or because the sample lost volatiles in transit. Ask for their method; ours prints on the certificate.

Can you add terpenes outside your list of 42?

Yes if a certified reference standard exists for the compound. Tell us the analyte and we confirm before you ship.

Do you test terpenes in a finished vape?

Yes. Send one cart and we report mg/g and the profile, alongside potency if you add it.

How should I ship to preserve the profile?

Sealed, full container with minimal headspace, and cool if the route is hot. We photograph the container on arrival so you can see the condition it reached us in.

Confirm testing scope

Order in the builder, pay, and a prepaid label is emailed to you. The certificate publishes to the database the moment it is signed.
