How to get your peptides tested by a lab

You need one sealed vial, an order with an analytical laboratory and about ten minutes of packing. This guide covers which tests answer which question, how to choose a lab, and how to send the sample.

From the analysts at Gold Standard Analytics, Houston. Updated October 27, 2026.

To test a peptide, send a sealed vial to an analytical laboratory and order at least LC-MS/MS identity and HPLC purity. Add net peptide content to check the milligrams against the label, and endotoxin and sterility for anything meant for injection in research. Home kits cannot measure any of these.

Step by step

  1. 1Pick the tests that answer your question (table below). For most vials that is identity plus purity, with net content if you want to check the label amount.
  2. 2Place the order online. At GSA that is sample intake: choose the compound and assays, review the itemized price and pay.
  3. 3Pack the vial sealed, as sold, with only the lot written on it. Destructive add-ons such as endotoxin, sterility and metals need extra vials from the same lot.
  4. 4Ship it on the label from your order (UPS or FedEx at the carrier's rate) or book a UPS door pickup. See mail-in testing from anywhere in the US.
  5. 5Read the certificate and verify it with the laboratory. GSA certificates resolve at /verify by accession number or QR code.

GSA prices as published on peptide testing cost; GLP-1 class base $289.

Why a home test kit cannot do this

Purity needs a chromatograph to separate the peptide from its impurities; identity needs a mass spectrometer to measure molecular mass; net content needs a certified reference standard and a calibrated instrument. Colour-change reagent kits and test strips cannot do any of these, so their result cannot be compared with a vendor's certificate.

If a kit is all you can use, treat it as a screen at most, and send a vial from the same lot to a laboratory before relying on it.

What it costs

Identity and purity for one standard research peptide costs about $180 to $350 at the labs we track, as each published it on October 27, 2026; GLP-1 and specialty peptides cost more. At GSA the base test is $189 with LC-MS/MS identity included ($289 for GLP-1 class peptides).

Testing a vendor's product

Buy the product as any customer would and send a sealed vial from the lot you received. Keep a second vial from the same lot, so another laboratory can check a surprising result.

At intake each container gets a blind code on camera, so the analyst never sees the vendor or client name. The certificate reports the lot and what was measured, which you can share with the vendor.

Split the cost

One vial, several buyers: group testing splits one panel between people who bought the same lot, and each pays only their share.

Questions about getting peptides tested

Where can I get my peptides tested?

Send a sealed vial to an analytical laboratory that runs HPLC purity and mass-spectrometry identity. Gold Standard Analytics tests peptides in Houston, Texas, from $189, and accepts samples by mail from anywhere in the US. Compare peptide testing labs to see other options.

Can I test peptides at home?

Not in a way that measures purity, identity or quantity. Those need chromatography and mass spectrometry. A home kit cannot separate a peptide from its impurities or weigh its molecular mass.

Can individuals order peptide testing?

Yes. Anyone can order online with a free account; you do not need to be a business or a vendor. Brands, vendors and researchers order the same way.

Do I need to open or reconstitute the vial?

No. Send it sealed, as sold. The laboratory weighs the vial and reconstitutes a known volume itself; an opened vial cannot give a net content figure.

Will the vendor find out I tested their product?

Not from us. At intake each container gets a blind code on camera, so the analyst never sees the client or vendor name. Whether a certificate is shared publicly is set by the order's terms.

How much does peptide testing cost?

At GSA, identity and purity together cost $189 ($289 for GLP-1 class peptides); net content is +$29, endotoxin +$199, sterility +$195 and heavy metals +$169. Several people can split one test through group testing.

Can you test a reconstituted peptide or a pen?

Yes. Lyophilised vials, reconstituted vials, raw powder and pre-filled pens are accepted. Reconstituted vials and pens should ship Monday to Wednesday with a cold pack.
